There's a Crocodile on the Golf Course by Rachel Barnett

Hey Everyone!

I'd like to introduce you to Rachel Barnett. I met Rachel at an editing workshop in Darwin last year. She has just released her debut children's book - There's a Crocodile on the Golf Course.

Rachel Barnett has been writing and drawing all of her life... or most of it anyway. She lives on Groote Eylandt, a small island paradise in the Northern Territory, Australia. It is remote, exceptionally far away from everything, but it is a magical place, steeped in culture, history and good people and, my goodness, it is beautiful. Rachel is a teacher across the small schools on Groote, and really loves her day job. Rachel also loves to write - it is a passion that has stayed with her since childhood. She holds an Arts Degree with majors in Creative Writing and English from Flinders University and loves to draw, paint and design. Combining all of these passions, she has just completed her first illustrated children's book, There's a Crocodile on the Golf Course, and there are more on the way.

There's a Crocodile on the Golf Course... and he's not having a very good game! Luckily he has his friends, Goanna, Quoll and Frilly with him to help him out. Will he get a hole in one?

There's a Crocodile on the Golf Course is a delightfully illustrated tale which explores golf, friendships... and cranky crocodiles! Author and illustrator Rachel Barnett takes us around the course with Croco as he plays a round of golf. His friends, Goanna, Quoll and Frilly join in, but things don't start well for Croco. He is cranky and not having any fun. Although the game is just not going his way, his friends are there to help him out and offer some fun and friendship along the way. Soon things are looking up and by the end of the game he gets the ultimate reward... a hole-in-one!

This book was inspired by the real life crocodile which frequents the Alyangula Golf Course. It is a lighthearted, read-out-loud tale ideal for the golfing enthusiast or anyone else to share with the children in their life. Children will love the Australian animal characters and the vibrant illustrations so much they will want to read it again and again.
